    Intense Times and Intentional Buying

I am never one to beat around the bush or sugar coat things so here we go… We are currently living in a world on fire on so many levels. Everything going on right now has exposed so much about how we operate as a society but more importantly how businesses view their employees. I have worked and worked for a few different companies and it was simultaneously interesting and heartbreaking seeing the way the companies treated their employees. I am fortunate enough to yet to be i

    Picnics and Intimate Events

I love intimate events, it is easier to make these events more luxurious while being more economically conscious. I stumbled across this company called The Picnic Collective. They are an event company based out of the OC (California) that plans luxury picnics for special occasions. It inspired me to write this blog. Look at a few of their posts. I love events like these that are just small get togethers but, in style. It’s the whole aesthetic behind my business. Picnics are s

    Decisions and Personality Quizzes

Welcome back to the blog! This month is all about personality, what that means and how that impacts an event you may plan or we plan as event planners. Last week we talked about preferences and things that make a us smile. Check it out here! This week we are talking personality quizzes and our opinions and thoughts on it. Back in college I worked at the school’s recreation center and it would be 4-8 hour shifts and I would either sit at the front desk and check people in or s

    Personalities and Preferences

Welcome back to the Blog! As you all know we took a little break in October as we had so much work with events of our own as well as still working other jobs. More importantly we needed the month to recenter and move back into a healthy mind space. We got the opportunity in October to reflect on perceptions vs personalities, kind of what someone may think of you when they just see your or even see your resume verses who you are based on your choices, preferences, morals, ecte

    Wine Recomendations and Signature Drinks

Hello and welcome back to the blog! We have been writing a food blog in our down time and if you have not already go check it out at madefromavocados.food.blog! Antyways. Wedding season. It’s been a ride this summer, and you know how at wedding there is always the signature drink for the bride and the groom? I love this idea in events. I planned a bar fundraiser for a local non-profit and really pushed for them to have a signature drink or cocktail to better market their even

    Balance and Positivity

Happy Wednesday! Welcome back to another blog. At work the other week my coworker made a comment as a joke how she wanted to be Instagram famous. I responded with Absolutely not, I don’t think I can be the type of person who could be in the public eye. I say this not to say I am ingenuous or a terrible person, but more so I am a private person and not a super peppy person in my private life. My coworker looked shocked and said how I always seemed so positive online. Thus the

How To Make Your Event Planner Your Best Friend

Hiring an Event Planner is like hiring a personal stylist. You only get out of it what your willing to bear. This means that we can not create the event of your dreams out of thin air. I as an event planner like to do my research on my clients find their style and aesthetic so I can better put together an event they may enjoy, but at the end of the day I can only do so much without the client telling me what they want. Here a few steps I have for making your event planner you

    Communication and Love Languages

Happy Friday Everyone! I know I know there was no post on Wednesday this week. No excuses here I will get better at it, but this wednesday I was exhausted. At work on Wednesday I had to play teacher for this stem summer camp for children in grades Kindergarten to 8th grade. My supervisor asked me to work with Kindergarteners and first graders because he felt it would be easier for me. Digresion: I am NOT a teacher. Nothing in the past 22 years I have lived nor 10 years of my

Event Planners Guide Part 2: Summer Trips

This week has been so hot and summery and we love it. It has us craving beach parties and lemonade and sweet tea on the back porch. Yes, I see how southern that sounded. We were driving home from work all this week enjoying this weather and how lovely a road trip with friends sounded. It is a common misconception that event planners are A) only for the rich and famous and B) Only do weddings and large scale grandeur events. In actuality us as event planner do all events and

    Motivation and Mental Health

Happy Friday to all of my event people and general blog readers. Let me know how your week was! Honestly, for me? It was a little rough. Here in Chicago this week has been gloomy not really raining but just cloudy, dark, foggy and overall just hohumy? I am a morning person I love waking up as the sun is rising and opening all the windows and basking in the light of dawn, but this week I couldn’t do that. Do you all ever get affected by the weather or even just some bad event

    Anniversaries and Sweet Moments

At work I got the opportunity to help a guest plan a 20th anniversary for his wife. He was from a small town in the middle of Ohio and they didn’t travel much, so he wanted to take her to “the big city”, aka Chicago. We talked dinner plans and hotel options, and everything that we discussed he wanted to make sure that it was something she would love. As an event planner I got some extra perks I could make for him. He booked a room at a great hotel downtown Chicago, where I wa
